AP CSP End-of-Course Reflection
END-OF-SEMESTER SELF-EVALUATION
I WOULD LIKE YOU TO DO AN EVALUATION OF YOURSELF IN RELATION TO THIS CLASS. THIS WILL NOT COUNT IN ANY WAY TOWARD YOUR GRADE, HOWEVER IT IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE CLASS. PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS, NOT NECESSARILY IN THE GIVEN ORDER. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD CONSIDER APPROPRIATE TO HELP ME UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COURSE WENT FOR YOU.
* HAS YOUR APPROACH TO Computer Science, Coding CHANGED DURING THIS COURSE OR COMPARED TO OTHER COURSES OR PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN OR TAUGHT YOURSELF? IF YES HOW?
I think that this course has taught me a great deal of info about computer coding and science. Some of my favorite things we did included the digital divide, Blown to Bits, Code.org clicker games, and the Will It Crash activity. With this new knowledge I now possess about computer science and coding, I think I’ll be more prepared should I take AP Computer Science A next year.
* HAVE YOUR ATTITUDES OR FEELINGS ABOUT Computer Science CHANGED?
Yes, they have. Prior to taking the class, I didn’t know that much at all about computer science (except for last year’s Exploring Computer Science work), and this year I feel I’ve expanded my knowledge on the subject greatly. I now have a good idea on how to code Javascript and AppLab, whereas prior I didn’t know much at all about either language.
* HOW DO YOU FEEL YOU PERFORMED IN THIS COURSE?
I feel that I did a good job for the most part in the class. I did a good job for the most part throughout the year getting all my work in, and I was proud of getting the Explore and Create Tasks in. Those two tasks were very difficult and stressful, but I felt very accomplished when I finished them.
* WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY IF YOU HAD A CHANCE TO DO THIS ALL OVER AGAIN?
I would spend less time talking and spend more time focused on the task at hand. While I was focused most of the time in class, sometimes I would get distracted, leading to me getting behind on work and leading to a need to catch up later. If I did this all over again, I would be more focused on getting all my work done before talking,
* HOW DO YOU FEEL THE COOPERATIVE/TEAM LEARNING APPROACH WORKED IN THIS COURSE?
I feel that cooperation was a huge part of this year. I worked with Amir on almost every project, and the collaboration was instrumentally helpful. With both of us contributing to projects, we were able to have more time to iron out bugs and fix problems that we otherwise wouldn’t have had a chance to fix.
* WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD THAT I DID NOT ASK?
Thank you for teaching AP Computer Science Principles and Exploring Computer Science for me, Ms. Stark! I enjoyed having you as a teacher and wish you well!
